Plant Hill has a long record of creative professionals working alongside teachers within the curriculum and we have been successfully working towards accrediting this through an ASDAN award. A previous CAPEUK project in Design Technology has led to increased participation and raised attainment at GCSE level.

Based in the Blackley area, north of Manchester, the area we serve contains high levels of unemployment and deprivation. Attainment of children on entry in English, Maths, and Science is below the national average and there are low levels of literacy. Ofsted identified our standards in music as being “very low.”

This project built on the school commitment to, and understanding of, the potential of creativity to motivate and raise attainment in mainstream curriculum areas by offering disaffected students the opportunity to create and perform their own music.
