We believe that the arts play a central role in educating the whole child and that personal growth is fostered through exposing children to real artistic and design experiences.
Intake High School Arts College is a lively and dynamic school where pupils feel valued. Every single young person is important, and we want them to be happy and to succeed. We have an emphasis on high quality teaching and learning, with high expectations of and for our pupils. We are constantly exploring alternative approaches to learning, and the wealth of creative and extra-curricular opportunities on offer contributes significantly to the experiences of the pupils.
We believe that every pupil should have the opportunity for a varied and balanced learning experience. Staff are committed to encouraging pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas. At Intake, there is a positive, disciplined environment where pupils feel comfortable, confident, motivated and cared for. Good behaviour is recognised, developed and rewarded. We see ourselves as part of the wider community, supporting pupils so they can develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes to enable them to show courtesy and respect for others and take responsibility for their own lives.
Our accommodation is superb, providing pupils with a pleasant and purposeful working atmosphere. We have just been granted Specialist Arts College status for a further three years, opening up even greater opportunities for all our pupils. In July 2001 we learned that we are one of the first schools in England to be awarded Artsmark Gold.
