City of Leeds School  View the video THE AFRICAN PROJECT Leeds University Language Department and the West Yorkshire Playhouse approached us, wanting to engage those of us with links to or an interest in Africa. We learnt about African history through storytelling, dance, singing and drumming leading to a performance showcased round Leeds schools and at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. The rehearsal schedule was gruelling and apart from after school rehearsals, we were in every day of the two week holiday. “They just got it Miss, we got all the right responses in the right places.” - pupil “This project could not have happened without the additional staffing of mentors and dance artists.” – co-ordinator |
